The concept of the Tong Head is to reduce the spacing between containers from the section to the pusher fingers/conveyor. The main benefit of the VCD is simple, more containers can be placed on the conveyor and into the Lehr due to the reduced
spacing between containers. In turn, this also allows the chain conveyor to be slowed down and operated at a reduced rate, reducing motor load and power consumption.
